Serving Up Space: The Business of Restaurants and Real Estate

Tours
Tue May 05 8:30 AM — 12:00 PM (GMT-06:00) Central Time

Explore the development of Nashville’s off-strip food scene with a tour that highlights a hometown bakery, upscale dining, and a small-town grocery store turned mixed-use development.

The first stop takes you south along historic Nolensville Pike, where you’ll get a glimpse into the area’s evolution over the years. The tour will then stop at Dozen Bakery where local developer, The Mathews Company, and Claire Meneely, Dozen Bakery owner, will discuss the bakery’s journey to its current location and the real estate story behind it. Pastries and coffee will be provided by Dozen Bakery.

Next, the tour moves to the Bill Voorhees Building in the Gulch to visit Catbird Seat and Patterson House. Project professionals will share the building’s history and the transformation with a highlight of the upscale restaurant and cocktail bar. A few doors down, hear from SomeraRoad and Maiz de la Vida restaurant owners on their journey from food truck to brick and mortar.

From there, head to East Nashville to explore the former Piggly Wiggly turned mixed-use development. Elliott Kyle of McDevitt Development will talk about the site’s transition over the past year from a small-town grocery store to a trendy restaurant destination. Support for this tour provided by SomeraRoad.
