Special Advisor to the Governor for Joint Rail Service City and County of Denver

Diane Barrett was the Chief Projects Officer for the City and County of Denver under three Mayors, from 2005 through 2019. In that role she guided the City's participation in projects as diverse as Denver Union Station and the National Western Stock Show. She retired just as COVID appeared, rode out the pandemic and then decided she missed working on projects. She went to work for the Governor's Office managing a proposed starter passenger rail project to go from Denver Union Station to Fort Collins, Colorado by 2029. During her time at the City, Diane participated as a panelist on several ULI panels, most memorably for a redevelopment near Sydney, Australia and a high speed rail project in Singapore.

This panel is intended to tell the story of the successful redevelopment of downtown Denver's Union Station. Union Station is a great example of the public and private sectors organizing around transit-oriented urban infill and compelling historic preservations. The panelists will be a collection of developers, city officials, transit officials, and design professionals who were instrumental in getting Union Station done.
