Toronto has a long history of developing affordable urban communities attractive to mixed-income residents. Over the years, the approach has shifted from public agency-led brick-and-mortar strategies to partnership models that leverage real estate value to encourage private-sector participation in advancing public policy and community objectives, creating a legacy of communities that mix subsidized and market-rate housing as a hallmark of the city. This tour will explore the ongoing transformation of two postwar social housing projects, Regent Park and Alexandra Park.
