Anyone in Nashville will tell you the Gulch is one of the city’s most vibrant neighborhoods following a 20-year transformation from a brownfield to the first LEED-ND neighborhood in the South. Today, it features a mix of office, hotel, residential, and commercial buildings, including more than 80 restaurants, retailers, and entertainment venues. The Gulch has emerged as a national model for sustainable community, smart growth, and urban design. Topics during this tour will include the public/private partnership that started it all, the evolution of the master plan, establishment of the business improvement district, creation of affordable and workforce housing, ongoing community initiatives like the Gulch Murals project, integration of the greenway, and a sneak peek at the next generation of buildings. The walking tour, also featuring a presentation by the master developer, MarketStreet Enterprises, will include ULI Nashville award-winning projects like the Thompson Nashville, a boutique hotel included on the Conde Nast Traveler 2017 Hot List.
